Privacy Policy for ScanPDF
Privacy Policy for ScanPDF
Last Updated: August 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how ScanPDF ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our mobile application.
ScanPDF is a document and PDF utility application that provides features such as document scanning, PDF creation, PDF viewing, PDF editing, OCR/text extraction, image-to-PDF conversion, QR scanning, QR generation, PDF merging, PDF splitting, eSign, watermarking, compression, and related document-management features.
We respect your privacy and are committed to handling information responsibly.
1. Information We Access
ScanPDF may request access to certain information or device resources when you use specific features of the App.
A. Camera
The App may request access to your device camera when you use features such as:
- Document scanning
- PDF scanning
- OCR scanning
- QR code scanning
- Capturing images for document creation
Camera access is requested only when a feature requires it.
We do not use your camera to continuously monitor you.
Camera access can be denied through your device settings, although certain features may not function without the required permission.
B. Photos, Images and Media
The App may request access to photos or images on your device when you use features such as:
- Import Files
- Image to PDF
- PDF creation from images
- OCR/text extraction
- Document scanning
- Image processing
- Selecting documents or images for conversion
The App only accesses the files required for the feature you choose.
Where supported by Android, the App may use Android's system photo/file picker to allow you to select specific files or images rather than providing unnecessary broad access.
Google Play treats photos and videos as personal and sensitive user data, so access is limited to functionality that requires it.
C. Files and Documents
When you choose to import or process a document, ScanPDF may access the selected file so that the requested operation can be performed.
Examples include:
- Viewing PDFs
- Creating PDFs
- Merging PDFs
- Splitting PDFs
- Compressing PDFs
- Adding watermarks
- Adding signatures
- Converting images to PDF
- Extracting text
- Processing documents
Files selected by you are used to provide the requested functionality.
2. How We Use Your Files and Images
Files, documents, images, and scanned pages may be processed to provide the features you request.
For example, when you select an image and choose Image to PDF, the selected image is processed to create a PDF.
Similarly, when you use OCR / Extract Text, the selected or captured image/document may be processed to recognize and extract text.
We do not use your documents or images for advertising purposes.
We do not sell your documents, photographs, scanned pages, or extracted text.
Important
If your implementation processes OCR, scanning, or document conversion entirely on the device, retain the following statement:
Documents, images, scanned pages, and extracted text are processed locally on your device whenever the relevant feature supports on-device processing. We do not upload these files to our servers for storage.
If any of these features send files to a third-party or your own server, this statement must be changed to accurately explain that processing.
Do not claim that processing is completely local if your application actually uploads files.
3. QR Code Features
ScanPDF provides QR-related functionality, including:
- QR code scanning
- QR code reading
- QR code generation
Camera access may be required when scanning a QR code.
QR codes scanned by the App may contain information provided by the QR code itself, such as text, links, contact information, or other encoded information.
The App does not independently create personal information contained within a QR code.
4. OCR and Text Extraction
ScanPDF may provide OCR and text-extraction functionality.
When you use OCR, the App processes the image or document you provide to recognize text.
Depending on the implementation of the specific OCR feature, processing may occur:
- On your device; or
- Through a third-party processing service.
The developer must ensure this section accurately matches the actual OCR implementation.
If OCR is completely on-device, no document upload statement should be added.
If OCR uses a cloud/API service, the name of that service and the relevant data handling should be disclosed here.
5. Advertising
ScanPDF may display advertisements through third-party advertising services, including Google AdMob.
Advertising providers may collect or receive certain information from your device for purposes such as:
- Providing advertisements
- Measuring advertising performance
- Preventing fraud
- Improving advertising services
- Managing advertising frequency
- Personalizing advertisements where permitted
Depending on your device settings, consent choices, location, applicable law, and advertising configuration, advertising providers may process information such as advertising identifiers, device information, IP address, approximate location, app interaction information, and diagnostics.
We do not provide advertisers with the documents, images, scanned pages, or PDF files you process through ScanPDF for advertising purposes.
For information about how Google handles information in its advertising services, users should review Google's applicable privacy documentation.
If your AdMob configuration uses personalized advertising or other consent-based advertising features, ensure that your implementation provides the required consent mechanisms for applicable users and regions.
6. Device and Usage Information
The App or third-party SDKs used by the App may automatically process limited technical information necessary to operate the application and advertisements.
This may include information such as:
- Device model
- Operating system version
- App version
- IP address
- Approximate location derived from IP address
- Advertising identifier, where applicable
- Diagnostics
- Crash information
- Performance information
- Basic app interaction information
Such information may be used for purposes including:
- App functionality
- Security
- Fraud prevention
- Crash detection
- Performance monitoring
- Advertising
- Analytics, where enabled
The exact information collected depends on the SDKs and services integrated into the current version of the App.
7. Third-Party Services
ScanPDF may use third-party services to support application functionality, advertising, security, diagnostics, or other legitimate purposes.
These services may include:
- Google AdMob
- Google Play services
- Android system services
- Other SDKs or services integrated into the application
Third-party service providers may process information according to their own privacy policies.
Developers are responsible for ensuring that third-party SDK data practices are accurately reflected in Google Play's Data Safety form. Google specifically requires developers to account for data collected or shared by third-party SDKs used in their apps.
8. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not intentionally share your personal documents, scanned pages, photographs, or PDF files with advertisers.
Information may be processed or shared with service providers when necessary to:
- Provide application functionality
- Display advertisements
- Maintain application security
- Diagnose crashes and technical problems
- Comply with applicable laws
- Respond to lawful requests from authorities
- Protect our rights, users, or services
Any sharing or collection performed by third-party SDKs is subject to their applicable terms and privacy practices.
9. Data Storage
ScanPDF may store files or generated documents locally on your device when required to provide features such as document management, PDF viewing, editing, or storage.
Files stored locally remain subject to the permissions and storage controls of your Android device.
Unless specifically stated otherwise in this Privacy Policy, we do not claim ownership of your documents, images, PDFs, or other content.
You are responsible for maintaining backups of important documents.
10. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by the App.
However, no electronic storage system, application, network, or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You should avoid using ScanPDF to process highly confidential information if you are not comfortable with the applicable device, operating-system, or third-party service risks.
11. User Control and Permissions
You control whether ScanPDF receives access to certain device permissions.
Depending on your Android version and device manufacturer, you may manage permissions through:
Settings → Apps → ScanPDF → Permissions
You may revoke permissions such as camera or photos/media access at any time.
If you revoke a permission, features that depend on that permission may no longer work until the permission is granted again.
Android may provide limited photo access or system picker options depending on your device and Android version.
12. Children's Privacy
ScanPDF is not specifically directed toward children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for purposes prohibited by applicable law.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us in a manner that violates applicable requirements, please contact us so that we can review the matter and take appropriate action.
If the App is intended to target children or includes children in its declared target audience, additional Google Play Families requirements may apply, particularly regarding camera data, device identifiers, advertising, and third-party SDKs.
13. Your Rights
Depending on your country or region, you may have rights relating to your personal information, including rights to:
- Request information about personal data processing
- Request access to certain personal information
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of applicable personal information
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Request information about third-party data sharing
Requests can be submitted using the contact information provided below.
Because ScanPDF generally does not require an account, some account-specific rights may not apply.
14. Account and Sign-In
ScanPDF does not require users to create an account or sign in to use its core functionality.
We therefore do not intentionally collect account registration information such as:
- Name
- Email address
- Password
- Phone number
unless a future version of the application introduces an account-based feature.
If account functionality is introduced in a future version, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.
15. Data Deletion
Because ScanPDF does not require a user account, there may be no account-level personal data to delete.
Users can remove locally stored documents and application data through the App or Android device settings.
For information processed by third-party services, deletion requests may be subject to the applicable third party's policies and procedures.
If you believe we hold personal information that should be deleted, you may contact us at the email address below.
Google Play requires developers to be transparent about data handling and, where applicable, provide mechanisms for deletion of accounts and associated data.
16. International Data Processing
Third-party service providers used by ScanPDF may process information on servers located in countries other than your own.
Where required, appropriate safeguards and legal requirements will apply to such processing.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect:
- Changes to the App
- New features
- Changes to third-party services
- Changes in applicable laws
- Changes to Google Play requirements
- Changes in our data practices
When changes are made, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the beginning of this Privacy Policy.
